Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Woolaroc

From Pea Ridge we drove to Bartlesville, Oklahoma for the night. Bartlesville had been the home of Frank Phillips, the oil man who founded Phillips 66. Prior to the merger with Conoco, the Phillips Petroleum headquareters had been in Bartlesville. The downtown still shows a degree of development from those days.
The 19-story Price Tower was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.

We drove out to tour Woolaroc, which had been Frank Phillips’s ranch, where he developed a museum and an animal park. The name was mashup of woods, lake, and rocks.

There is an extensive collection of weapons, including this Gatling Gun.
There are of course memorabilia from Frank Phillips’s life and from the history of Phillips Petroleum.
The Travel Air Woolaroc plane participated in early air races.
