Toronto Bus Tour, Part 2, and Boat Tour

September 12, 2014

The next morning I wandered over to the nearest subway station and bought a day pass for the transit system, figuring that I would get my money's worth out of it for my travels after the bus and boat tours. Then I walked over to the nearest stop for the hop-on-hop-off bus, getting on where I had left the tour the day before.

The curved building below is called the L-Tower. Presumably there is a horizontal part that forms the rest of the L. The operator of the crane on the top tweets pictures from above the city. You can read about him and see a gallery here and here, and follow his tweets here.

To the lower left of the tower you can see the dome of the Rogers Center as it opens for the ball game that day, since the weather has improved.

I stayed on the bus past where I had got on the day before to head to catch the boat tour. We boarded near the Harbourfront Centre, which illustrates some of the funny British spellings they use. This view is from my seat on the upper level of the boat.

The boat tour goes out to and around the nearby islands in Lake Ontario, by a small airport accessible only by air or boat, and by the yacht club.

You can see through to a park on one of the islands.

The best view of the Toronto skyline is from the lake.

The bridge with the pink signs is what we walked across to get from the bus to the boat landing. It is supposedly the mate to a bridge in Amsterdam, hence the brew house name. In the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding the couple's first kiss took place on this bridge.
