The Last Time I Saw Paris
June 21, 2024
After the light, late lunch, I headed across the river to the Île de la Cité, the island in the middle of the Seine that was the original settlement of Paris. I wanted to see what I could of Notre Dame Cathedral.

The Hôtel de Ville, the city hall, was festooned for the Olympics. An orchestra stage was set up in front.

As I approached the cathedral, I encoutered the younger group. They posed for this picture.

This is what you can see of the west façade above the barriers.

“The Last Judgment” is depicted over the center portal on the west side.

After some more exploring, it was time to board the Métro and find my way back to the Les Noces de Jeanette restaurant for our Farewell Meal.

Then on early Saturday morning we flew to Munich, boarded a plane for Charlotte around noon, and sat on the runway for an hour and a half while they installed and set up a new flight computer. That made the flight home seem interminable. Some folks had made their own flight arrangements and had direct flights from Paris to Charlotte. Still, I would rather my plane have a working flight computer. Otherwise, it was a wonderful trip.
