Torrey's Durango–Silverton Train Pictures

October 5, 2016

Torrey sent me three of the pictures he made while we were on the train. He was using his Nikon DSLR with a zoom lens that has much more range than my little travel camera.

Ted Winter, a good friend from Davidson days, sent me a couple of his shots from their 2007 trip. That day was obviously warmer than our October weather, judging from the people hanging out of the windows of the enclosed car. We all liked photographing the train as it went around a curve to the right, apparently. His first picture shows the same curve that both Torrey and I shot. I like his because you can see the smoke from the steam engine clearly. There's a greater than usual element of luck in getting good pictures of a moving train you are riding.
