Arches and Canyonlands National Parks

October 2 – 4, 2016

In our planning, Torrey said he wanted to visit Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. I didn't know much about them, but it was all new territory, and a new state, for me, so I readily agreed. So we celebrated my birthday by heading for Utah and seeing part of Arches park. The next day we saw the Island in the Sky portion of Canyonlands and came back to Arches to see the main things we had not had time for the first day. I bought another memory card for the camera at the gift shop, too. These small pictures don't do these vistas much justice, but maybe you can get a hint of the glorious sights we saw.

In the upper right portion of the picture below, you might be able to make out the confluence of the Colorado and Green Rivers, the rivers that formed the canyons in the park.

Back to Arches National Park

The next morning we drove south through rather barren southeastern Utah and stopped by the Four Corners on our way to Mesa Verde and then Durango, CO.
