Oahu Circle Tour

December 18, 2017

On Monday I took a day-long circle tour that went north through the center of the island and on around the northern and eastern coasts. We did not visit the west of the island at all. The version I took did not include a tour of the ranch on the eastern coast where many movies and TV shows have been shot. We went through some residential areas and on to our first real stop, the Dole plantation. There we rode the little train around. We didn't have time to do the maze.

Then we headed to the scenic northern coast.

We had a brief visit to the Ploynesian Cultural Center, where we mainly had a boat ride through, seeing the ersatz villages that represent the various island cultures of the peoples who settled Hawaii. The center is near the Hawaii campus of Brigham Young University and provides employment for students. Our bus driver and guide played the ukulele for us as we got on the boat and then took pictures of the group as we rode.

You can recognize me by my tan floppy hat.

Then we continued on around the northern and eastern coast.

We stopped at a park at Halona Blowhole Lookout.

Someone, maybe the guide, said this is an Hawaiian squirrel.

This shows the entrance to the tunnel that takes you inside the crater on Diamondhead.
