Gamle Bergen

“Gamle” means “old.” Rather than tearing down all of the eighteenth- and nineteenth-century buildings as Bergen modernized, many were moved to a location north of town and made into a little village to tour, with costumed guides playing different rôles from the period.
The merchant gaves us a friendly welcome into his home that displays some of his wares as well as features of everyday life of the middle class.
