Strasbourg
May 1, 2026
Strasbourg was our only port in France. One of my ancestral lines lived in Alsace and another lived in the Palatine, across the river, so I guess I should have felt at home. May 1 is the international observance of labor day, and we were told that the cathedral might be closed to tourists because of the masses held that day. We had no trouble visiting, and I got to hear the organ prelude and the sermon. I could make out enough of the French to hear that it dealt with workers.

I recorded part of the organ prelude using my iPhone, so not an optimum recording.

The face of Jesus is made up of many faces.

As we continued sailing upstream, we needed to go through more locks.
